Grain Workshop Slated in Shipshe

Registration is underway for the 2018 Michiana Irrigated Corn and Soybean Production Workshop, hosted by Purdue University Extension.
The workshop is scheduled for March 6, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana.
Topics and presenters are:
• "Managing Soybean Cyst Nematodes—The Iowa Experience and What It Means for You": Greg Tylka, nematologist at Iowa State University.
• "Practical and Profitable Recommendations for Applying Irrigation Water to Soybeans": Lyndon Kelley, irrigation educator for Purdue and Michigan State Extension services, and Steve Miller, agricultural engineer at Michigan State University.
• "New Rules for Dicamba Application": Bill Johnson, weed science specialist for Purdue Extension.
• "Hitting the 'Bullseye' with Irrigated Corn": Joe Lauer, corn agronomist at the University of Wisconsin.
• "Insect Pest Management Strategies for Irrigated Corn Production—Opportunities and Risks": John Obermeyer, field crops entomologist for Purdue Extension.
• "Nitrogen Management Strategies for Irrigated Corn Production—Opportunities and Risks": Bruce MacKellar, field crops educator for Michigan State Extension, and Kelley.
Credits will be available for Indiana and Michigan private applicators, commercial applicators and certified crop advisers. Dicamba certification for Indiana and Michigan applicators will also be available.
Sponsors are the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee, Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council.
Cost is $15. Registration is required by Feb. 26. Lunch and materials will be provided.
