Steuben 4-H Auction Rakes in $210,176.75

The Steuben County 4-H livestock action raised a total of $210,176.75 on 232 lots last Thursday in Angola. The total sale amount from last year was $220,959.78 on 220 lots.
Bailey Burlingame sold the grand champion swine gilt. The 259-pound hog brought $12.44 per pound, or $3,223. A support group (see list at end of story) purchased the hog.
Cameron Penick of Smithfield Twp. sold the reserve champion gilt. The pig weighed 288 pounds and earned $7.55 per pound, or $2,175. A group of supporters (see list) bought the animal.
The reserve champion barrow was sold by Brady Leininger of Pleasant Twp. The barrow weighed 268 pounds and earned $6.32 per pound, or $1,600. Buyer's include Silveus Insurance Group, Litchfield Grain Company, Daryl Chupp, Anderson's Grain Division, Ferrier Genetics, United Producers and Jerry Grogg Inc.
The grand champion started calf was sold by Vivian German of Pleasant Twp. The calf weighed in at 470 pounds and sold for $2,450, or $5.21 per pound. Autumn Wind Whitetails, Farmers State Bank, Ronnie and Sherry Holiday, Bob Stone Electric Inc., Waite Farms, Countryside Repair Inc. and Orland Community Elevator contributed to the sale price.
Jaelynn Graber of Steuben Twp. sold the reserve champion started calf. Her calf weighed 418 pounds and brought $3.71 per pound, or $1,550. A support group (see list) bought the animal.
Trevor Craig of Smithfield Twp. started out the dairy feeder sale with her grand champion steer. The 740-pound animal brought $4.82 per pound, or $3,570. A group of supporters (see list) purchased the steer.
In the beef sale, Isaac Shively of Hilldale Twp. sold his 1,285-pound reserve champion beef steer for $2.41 per pound, or $3,100. A buyer's group (see list) bought the steer.
Trevor Diehl of Millgrove Twp. earned reserve champion dairy steer. The 1,485-pound animal brought $2,725, or $1.84 per pound. A buyer's group (see list) purchased the cow.
Isabellah Butler of Pleasant Twp. started off the goat sale with her grand champion dairy wether. The goat brought $500 and sold to Joe Butler All State Agency, Carper-Koeppe Insurance Inc., R&N Farms, Pranger Enterprises, First Federal Savings Bank of Angola, Miller Poultry and Ridenour Farms.
The reserve champion dairy wether was sold by Tysen Weible of Pleasant Twp. The goat sold for $450 to Wana Feed Service Inc., Williams family, Farmers State Bank, Millenium Concrete, John Mettert Becks Hybrids, Speedway Redi Mix Inc., The Finishing Touch- Karla Elliott, Victory Trucking and Irving Materials Inc.
MacKenzie Young of Pleasant Twp. earned grand champion for her pygmy wether. She sold the goat at the auction for $525 to First Federal Savings Bank of Angola, Shiery Animal Clinic, Higbee Welding Shop and Debbie Higbee.
The reserve champion pygmy wether was sold by Cody Close of Pleasant Twp. The goat brought $550 and sold to John and Martha Close, Pranger Enterprises, Stroh Farm Supply, Booth Tree Farm, Pfafman Brothers, J O Mory Inc. and Gary and Kelly Shough.
Zacchaeus Creager of Pleasant Twp. sold his grand champion meat wether for $625. Countryside Repair Inc., H&S Auto Machine Service Inc., Stroh Farm Supply, Kenn-Feld Group Angola and Harold Chevrolet purchased the goat.
Jordan Baker of Pleasant Twp. took the reserve champion title for meat wethers. The goat brought $300 at the auction and was purchased by Best One Tire and Auto Care of Angola.
Elijah Weible sold goat milk and cheese from the supreme grand champion goat. Supporters (see list) purchased the milk and cheese for $675.
Tysen Weible sold the reserve champion goat milk and cheese for $400 to Wana Feed Service Inc., Harold Chevrolet, Millenium Concrete, Irving Materials Inc., Pranger Enterprises, Miller Poultry, AG Venture D&M Denver and Marjorie, and Orland Community Elevator.
In the rabbit sale, Kaylee Wise of Pleasant Twp. sold the grand champion fryers which brought $800. A buyer's group (see list) bought the rabbits.
The grand champion roaster rabbits were sold by Emma Gaff of Otsego Twp. Gaff earned $300 for the rabbits which sold to Stoy Farms.
Aireana Lanning of Pleasant Twp. sold her grand champion stewer rabbit for $225. Bill's Professional Towing and Repair purchased the rabbit.
Jaelynn Graber of Steuben Twp. started off the poultry sale with the grand champion turkey. The bird sold for $675 to Steury Builders, Griffiths Crop Agency, Greenmark Equipment and Kenn-Feld Group.
Amy German of Pleasant Twp. sold the reserve champion turkey for $725. A buyer's group (see list) bought the bird.
Abrianna Hutter of Fremont Twp. earned grand champion for her market goose. The animal sold at the auction for $175. Sevits Tree Service and H&S Auto Machine Services Inc. bought the goose.
The reserve grand champion meat birds were sold by Christian Crone of Pleasant Twp. The birds sold for $575 to a buyer's group (see list).
Olivia Childress of Pleasant Twp. earned grand champion for her market ducks. She sold the ducks for $150 to Wagler and Associates Inc.
The reserve champion market ducks were sold by Bryar Wolfe of Pleasant Twp. Wolfe earned $150. Barton Lake RV purchased the ducks.
Ava Budak of Pleasant Twp. earned $500 for her grand champion laying hen. Pokagon Veterinary Hospital, Booth-Rose-Krebs and Jeanne Jasper purchased the hen.
Kylie Worden of Pleasant Twp. sold her reserve champion laying hen for $200. Jim and Jessica Reitzel and Kenn-Feld Group Angola bought the hen.
