Lake County Breaks Records

The Lake County Fair livestock auction took place on Aug. 10. Several records were broken during the sale that grossed $138,049.75 on 224 lots.

The grand champion beef steer was exhibited by Zachary Hayden. Bill's Produce purchased the steer for $4 per pound. The reserve champion market steer was shown by Noah Hayden. The animal brought $3.50 per pound and sold to Gosser Corporation Sales Inc.

The champion shorthorn steer was sold by Matthew Gudgel. FFC Fencing paid $1.50 per pound. Riley Hayden sold the champion market heifer for $2.25 per pound to Tom and Kristine Reed.

Mackenzie Bult exhibited the champion beef carcass. The carcass sold for $2.50 per pound to AMS Motor Service. A record was broken by the reserve champion carcass. Austin Kalvaitis sold the carcass to E.J. Farms Trucking, Inc. for $3.25 per pound.

Matthew Gudgel sold the champion AOB steer for $2 per pound. Conley Consulting purchased the steer. Clayton Marshall sold the reserve champion Chianina steer for $3 per pound to Lake County Farm Bureau Inc.

In the swine auction, Riley Hayden sold the grand champion market barrow. Castognia Tractor and Ceres Solutions paid $4.50 per pound. Brycen Neises exhibited the reserve champion barrow. The hog brought $8.50 per pound and was bought by Diamond Peak Homes.

Noah Hayden showed the grand champion market gilt for $2 per pound. Bill's Produce was the buyer. The reserve champion market gilt was sold by Maggie Sever. Hanford Packing paid $2 per pound for the hog.

Tenley Neises owned the champion mediumweight market gilt. Crown Brick and Supply purchased the animal for $2.25 per pound. The champion lightweight crossbred barrow was sold by Brycen Neises for $2.25 per pound. The buyer was Eagle Rock Farms.

The reserve champion lightweight market gilt was shown by Joshua Stuchell. Lake County Farm Bureau, Inc. paid $2 per pound. Michael Hein sold the reserve champion mediumweight market gilt to Bill's Produce for $2 per pound.

Jacob McKay sold the reserve champion heavyweight gilt and reserve champion Duroc breeding gilt. The heavy weight sold to Gosser Corporate Sales Inc. for $2.25 per pound. The breeding gilt was purchased for $2 per pound by Lake County Farm Bureau Inc.

Mackenzie Bult exhibited the reserve champion Hampshire barrow. It sold for $2 per pound and was bought by Bob Little of Pioneer Seeds. The reserve champion Yorkshire barrow was sold by Andrew Bult for $3 per pound. Lake County Farm Bureau Co-op paid for the hog.

The reserve champion heavyweight crossbred was sold by Mackenzie Bult for $2 per pound. Lowell Carpet and Coverings bought the hog.

Liam Brown owned the grand champion swine carcass. He sold the carcass for $2.75 per pound to John W. Watts. The reserve champion carcass was exhibited by Owen Brown. Ziese & Sons Excavating paid $2.75 per pound.

Kaylee Jensen sold the grand champion market lamb. Kate and Matt Van Duersen purchased the lamb for $11 per pound. The reserve champion market lamb was shown by Connor Hayden. The animal brought $8 per pound and sold to Kate and Matt Van Duersen and Bob Little of Pioneer Seed.

Leora Miller showed the grand champion sheep carcass. Lake County Farm Bureau Co-op paid $3 per pound for the carcass. The reserve champion sheep carcass sold for $3 per pound. Makayla Neal sold the carcass to John David Boyd.

Riley Mowrey showed the grand champion senior dairy goat milk. Lake County Farm Bureau Inc. paid $300 for the gallon. The reserve champion dairy goat milk was shown by Sarah Piepho. Lake County Farm Bureau Inc. purchased the milk for $150.

The grand champion dairy goat wether was shown by Ellie Juhnke. Kraft Auction Service bought the goat for $200. The reserve champion dairy wether sold for $200. Quintin Klisiak sold the goat to Kraft Auction Service.

Aiden Conley exhibited the reserve champion dairy goat wether, which sold for $100 to Indiana Title Network. Colin Klisiak sold his reserve champion dairy goat wether to Benedict Farms for $150. Lily Hamilton's reserve champion dairy goat wether sold for $150 to Kraft Auction Service.

Hannah Quale earned $500 for her grand champion meat goat. T & J Meat Packing placed the final bid. The reserve champion meat goat was owned by Brausen Waterman, who sold the animal for a record breaking $575. T & J Packing was the buyer.

In the dairy sale, Sarah Piepho exhibited the grand champion senior Holstein. The milk was purchased by Lake County Farm Bureau Inc. for $300.

The grand champion senior AOB dairy milk earned $400 for exhibitor Steve Severin. Lake County Farm Bureau Co-op paid for the gallon.

Jacob McKay exhibited the reserve champion senior Holstein. Kraft Auction Service bought the milk for $200. Clay Cantwell sold milk from the reserve champion AOB dairy cow. Wendel Farms paid a record breaking $1,000 for the gallon.

The grand champion broiler was exhibited by Andrew Bult. Neises's Landscape placed the winning bid of $175 each for the pair of chickens.

Cullen LeRoy sold the grand champion pen of turkeys. Gleaner Life Insurance bought the two turkeys for $225 each.

The reserve champion broilers were exhibited by Kaitlyn Jennings. Lake County Farm Bureau Inc. was the buyer. Jennings received $100 for each chicken.

Quintin Klisiak earned the reserve champion title for his pen of market geese. The pair was purchased for $200 each by Dr. Kate Hodson, DVM. Nolan Sepko sold the reserve champion broilers for $125 each to Gleaner Life Insurance.

Quintin Klisiak earned grand champion titles for the rabbit meat pen and fryer. Benedict Farms bid $150 for the meat pen and Crown Feed and Supply purchased the fryer for $125. Collin Lisiak sold the reserve champion rabbit meat pen and fryer. The meat pen of rabbits sold to FFC Fencing for $150. The fryer rabbit went to Kraft Auction Service for $100.
