Mikel Connects Farm Bureau Members
Published: Friday, October 18, 2019
Marissa Mikel, regional manager for Indiana Farm Bureau, is this week's "Person You Should Know."
The Etna Green resident talks about her family, her hobbies and her job as a resource person for local Farm Bureau members.
Family: My husband, Cy, and I recently moved back to northern Indiana to be closer to both of our families. We are expecting our first child in March.
My Job: As a regional manager for Indiana Farm Bureau Inc., I serve farmers in Elkhart, St. Joseph, LaPorte, Starke, Porter and Lake counties. I provide support to each county Farm Bureau board and help connect members to the many resources we have at Farm Bureau - from agriculturally-accurate books to read in elementary schools to opportunities to share their stories with state and federal legislators to impact change.
My mentor: My high school agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, Ron Noll, showed me what it truly means to love your job and serve others.
My mission in life: My mission in life is to give more than I take and to use my strengths and talents to positively impact my family, community and those around me.
How I give back: I currently have donated the use of one of my horses to a therapeutic riding program, where I spent much of my free time volunteering while living in Indianapolis. I am looking forward to getting involved in volunteering with 4-H and a local therapeutic riding center this spring.
Hobbies: I enjoy cooking, riding horses and traveling.
Favorite autumn activities: Eating apple fritters at all the fall festivals and making apple dumplings with my family.
