Grace McCoy, Miss Elkhart County, was named first runnerup of the Miss Indiana State Fair 2020 competition last Sunday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Claudia Duncan, Miss Vanderburgh County, was selected as the 62nd state fair queen.
McCoy, of Etna Green, was crowned Elkhart County 4-H queen in July and was the first runnerup in 2018. She participated in the beef and the dairy feeder calf clubs during her time in 4-H and is the daughter of Josh and Lena McCoy.
A graduate of NorthWood High School, McCoy is studying agriculture communication and entrepreneurship at Purdue University.
Miss St. Joseph County, Elyona Dobrodt, was one of 10 finalists selected from a field of 84 contestants after three days of judging.
Duncan is the fourth representative from Vanderburgh County to be crowned Miss Indiana State Fair. The queen plays a key role in promoting the Indiana State Fair by traveling at least 10,000 miles during June and July to approximately 45 counties in preparation for the Indiana State Fair, which will be held Aug. 7-23.
The top 10 finalists include: Duncan; McCoy; second runnerup Devin Hindes (Newton County); third runnerup Catherine Hall (Shelby); fourth runnerup Danielle Perry (Posey); Dobrodt; Ellen Rohr (Parke); Jessica Bradford (Warrick); Abbigail Sprong (Delaware) and Riley Lamb (Boone).
