Wawasee FFA Honors Top Members

Madelyn Zimmerman, Reagon Dailey, Evan Coblentz and Clara Hardy were the top award winners at the Wawasee FFA banquet last Thursday in Syracuse.

Zimmerman was named the Chapter Star Farmer, while Dailey earned the Senior Leadership Scholarship. Coblentz received two awards, the Chapter Star in Agribusiness award and the Blue and Gold Award.

Hardy picked up the Agriculture Education Scholarship and was recognized for her year of service as the chapter president. Other officers were Madelyn Zimmerman, vice president; Logan Hollar, secretary; Isabelle Kloss, treasurer; Kayla Estrada, reporter; Connor Grumme, sentinel; and Emily Sabin, student advisor.

Other awards were presented to Alexis Matney, DeKalb Accomplishment Award; Isabel Kloss, Chapter Star in Agriculture Placement; Justin Beer, Chapter Star Greenhand; Arrington Krull, Chapter Star Discovery; Matt Rhoades, Advisor's Award and Junior Leadership Award; Paul Lovellette, Sophomore Leadership Award; and EllaMae Reiff, Freshman Leadership Award.

The FFA chapter also recognized two local businesses with the Distinguished Service Award for continually demonstrating their support and encouragement to the FFA. The recipients of the Distinguished Service Award are Chore Time Brock and Miller Poultry.

In addition, honorary Chapter FFA Degrees were presented to Jamie McAdams and Jon Everingham.

The banquet concluded with the installation of chapter officers for 2018-19. Evan Coblentz will fill the role of president, with Logan Hollar serving as vice president. Ryan Zorn will handle the responsibilities of secretary, and Connor Grumme will be the treasurer. Other officers include EllaMae Reiff, reporter; Gabe Sidwell, sentinel; and Madelyn Zimmerman, student advisor.
