Lane Seeks State Officer Position

One individual from northern Indiana will compete for a state officer title at this year's state FFA convention at Purdue University.

Hunter Lane of the Warsaw FFA chapter is a state officer candidate. Lane will compete against 12 other candidates for the title.

Other candidates include Jarret Bailey, Bellmont FFA; Austin Berenda South Newton FFA; Savannah Bordner, Carroll at Flora FFA; Jakob Davis, Tri High FFA; Nathan Deatrick, North Harrison FFA; Samantha DeLey, Shenandoah FFA; Chyenne Deno, South Newton FFA; Brittany Gonzales, Tri-County FFA; Ashby Grimes, McCutcheon FFA; Edwin Jefferson, Kankakee Valley FFA; Hannah McGee, Rushville FFA; and Levi Spurgeon, Indian Creek FFA.

Several individuals from northern Indiana are section STAR finalists.

Ben Smith from Carroll is a STAR finalist in Agribusiness. In Agricultural placement, Jessica Peterson is a STAR finalist from John Glenn. From the Dekalb FFA chapter, Alexandria Laker is a STAR finalist in Agriscience.

Other STAR finalists include Noah Poynter, North Putnam; Drake Davis, Southmont; Simon Grills, Whitland; Derek Neuhoff, Southridge; Noah Miller, Lewis Cass; Ashley Peterson, Tri-County; Clay Kretzmeier, Benton Central; Tyler Jester, Monroe Central; and Annie Schoetmer, Batesville.

This year there are four winners of the Distinguished Award. Honorary degree recipients are Nancy Bell, North Monthomery; Kraig Bowers, former Fairfield ag advisor; Archie Saurheber, North Harrison; and Andrea Schwartz, Ivy Tech.

The distinguished service recipient is Roger Carr, an ag educator from Clinton Central.

Over 430 recipients will receive Hoosier Degrees at the convention along with many other awards and achievements to be recognized.
