Royalty to Reign at Millersburg Festival

Published: Friday, August 10, 2018

Royalty will reign supreme, and fireworks will fly at the Millersburg Street Festival on Aug. 17-18 in downtown Millersburg.

For the first time in several years, the annual festival in Millersburg will have a prince and princess contest. The coronation will take place on Saturday after the parade. Later, there will be a fireworks show at Cook Station Park.

The activities begin Friday evening with a car show and cruise-in from 4-8 p.m. as well as "bike night" at the American Legion. Local restaurants and other vendors will be selling street food—hot dogs, burgers and brats—from 5-9 p.m. Entertainment from 7-9 p.m. will be provided by Dr. Jones and The Remedy.

Saturday begins with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 6-11 a.m. at the American Legion. The cost is $8 for adults and free for children 5 and under. At 8 a.m., registration begins for a family fun run/walk in the park, with the race to begin at 8:20.

At 11 a.m., the parade will march through downtown Millersburg, starting at the fire station and proceeding west down Elm Street, south on Clinton Street and east on Washington Street. The parade will be led by the Fairfield Marching Pride from Fairfield High School. After the parade ends, the festival will crown a new prince and princess. Once again, local restaurants will have food for sale, and other vendors will sell kettle corn, ice cream, pulled pork and walking tacos.

In the afternoon, there will be kids games, a rock wall and celebrity dunk tank. Other activities include a corn-on-the-cob eating contest, frozen T-shirt contest, fire safety house and cornhole tournament. Fairfield Fusion will perform at 3 p.m.

A tractor pull occurs at 2 p.m., and the final event of the festival is fireworks at dusk.
