Koebel Cashes in at Livestock Expo

The Michigan Livestock Expo was held on July 17. Buyers supported exhibitors of the livestock show by contributing a total of $261,150.

Katelyn Koebel of Berrien Springs topped the sale with her grand champion market hog. The swine brought $30,500. Colin Trattles of Burr Oak sold the reserve champion market hog and Great Lakes grand crossbred market hog for $10,000.

Payton Hines of Quincy won the Great Lakes grand purebred market hog. Showcase market hogs were exhibited by Brady Littlefield of Burr Oak, Morgan Wildt of Homer and Emily Mead of Sturgis.

Alissa Boersen of Zeeland earned $11,200 for her reserve champion market beef steer. Showcase market beef were shown by Aden Hathaway of Coldwater and Nick Boersen of Zeeland.

The reserve champion market goat was exhibited by Mason Trattles of Burr Oak. Trattles earned $4,000 for the goat. Emily Luthringer of Dowagiac exhibited the Great Lakes grand market goat. Bryce Ostrom of Dorr earned the showcase title for his market goat. Another showcase market goat exhibitor was Haley Keene of Athens.

Talan Hiemstra of Marcellus and Trent George of Niles exhibited showcase market sheep.

Emma Noll of Croswell showed the grand champion market beef. The steer brought $30,000 at the auction. Amanda Kosal of Deckerville earned the Great Lakes grand crossbred market beef title. Cole Johnston of Merrill and Spencer Fisher of Blissfield earned showcase market beef titles.

The grand champion market goat was sold by Emma Darrow of Olivet. The goat sold for $6,000.

Sarah-Jane Sterrett of Jackson earned the grand champion title for her market sheep. The animal brought $7,700 at the auction. Kade Shiery of Camden won reserve champion market sheep. Shiery took home a check of $10,100 for the sheep.

Madalyn Stewart of Charlotte won the Great Lakes crossbred market sheep title. Showcase market sheep were shown by Riley Leonard of Portland, Alexandria Schut of Belding and Max Wagner of Manchester.

Other showcase market hogs were exhibited by Lauren Keller of Morenci and Morgan Carrick of Blanchard.
