Pumpkin Spiced & Iced Cookies

2¼ c. all-purpose flour

1½ tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. salt

1 c. (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened

1 c. granulated sugar

15 oz. can solid pack pumpkin

2 large eggs

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 c. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels

1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Vanilla Glaze:

1 c. powdered sugar

1 to 1½ Tbsp. milk

½ tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375°. Grease baking sheets.

Combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Beat butter and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in pumpkin, eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto prepared baking sheets.

Bake 15-20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

For glaze: Combine all glaze ingredients in small bowl; mix well. Spread or drizzle cookies with glaze. —About 5 dozen cookies.
