Indiana Growers Hail E15 Announcement

Published: Friday, October 12, 2018

Indiana's corn growers are energized that President Trump's announcement will grant Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) parity for E15, a blend of 15 percent ethanol with 85 percent gasoline. This move will allow for E15 availability at pumps year-round. The Indiana Corn Growers Assn. welcomes this long-awaited decision by the administration, and the state's 14 ethanol producers look forward to fulfilling the demand.

"Every dollar that can be spent domestically on a bushel of corn is valuable to all American corn growers," said DeKalb County farmer Sarah Delbecq, who also serves as ICGA president. "This is great for all U.S. corn growers, but especially good news for Hoosiers because we have many biorefineries in the state. This definitely increases the demand and value of our crop."

Rigorous testing has verified E15, the most-tested fuel in history, as approved and proven safe for all vehicles 2001 or newer. Offering consumers the option of a higher octane, lower cost, better performing fuel – which is also better for the environment – E15 will significantly increase demand for Hoosier-grown corn.

Tuesday's announcement represents a significant win for corn producers across the heartland with a policy that will increase corn demand and market opportunities. ICGA appreciates President Trump's support for Hoosier farmers.
