Ind. Holstein Assn. Presents Awards

During the 2019 Indiana Holstein Assn. annual meeting, awards were presented for progressive breeders, genetics, BAA average and more. Bruce Gingerich of Sunrose Holsteins in Millersburg was named the master breeder.

Cassandra Gebert of Wawaka was named the Indiana Holstein Assn. princess.

Progressive breeders registry award winners include: Richard Nisen of Leesburg, Paul Farm of Goshen, Stephen R. Landis of Goshen, Lyle Weaver of Goshen, Denny Paulus of Elkhart and Oneeda Farms, LLC of Syracuse.

Progressive genetics herd award winners are: Brand Dairy Farm of Waterloo, Lyle Weaver of Goshen, Nor-Bert Farms, LLC of Bremen, Rausher Farms, Inc. of Huntington, and Darrell Richard of Goshen.

The five highest BAA average for herd with 10 to 50 head include: Bruce Gingerich, Goshen, 27 head, 113.0; Richard Nisen, Leesburg, 38 head, 112.5; Lookwell Farm, Elkhart, 24 head, 112.5; Steve R. Landis, Goshen, 31 head, 110.8; and Jeff A. and Gina Stookey, Milford, 43 head, 110.2.

Herds with 51 to 99 head BAA average awards were given to: Richard Thomas, Middlebury, 89 head, 108.1; Paul Farm, Goshen, 56 head, 108; Myron and Michael Oeasch, 53 head, 107.6; U., M. and J. Wagler, Rushville, 64 head, 107.6; and Darren Schwoeppe, Huntingburg, 98 head, 106.9.

The three highest BAA average for herds 100 head and above include: Kuehnert Dairy Inc., Fort Wayne, 260 head, 107; Oneeda Farms LLC, Syracuse, 168 head, 106.3; and Rauscher Farms, Huntingburg, 167 head, 104.1.

Darrell Richard of Goshen earned the gold medal dam award.

Dam of Merit award winners were: Brand Dairy of Waterloo, Rausher Farms, Inc. of Huntingburg with two dams, and Brand Dairy Farm of Waterloo with a second dam.

National Elite Performers were owned by Lynne R. Martin of Goshen, Darrell Richard of Goshen, Dalton, Dillon and Breanne Freeman, Darrell Richard of Goshen, and two cows owned by Nor-Bert Farms LLC of Bremen.
