Paul Family Shows Six Champions at Allen County Fair

The Allen County 4-H livestock auction was held on July 9 at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Fort Wayne. There were nine species present in the auction and a total of 147 animals sold. The auction brought in a total of $140,795 compared to last year's total of $145,077.

The beef cattle section sold a total of five cattle and brought in a species subtotal of $21,310. The grand champion market beef was shown by Dylan Paul of Huntertown and was reserved from the auction.

The reserve champion market beef was shown by Ryan Kliene from Monroeville. Kliene's cow sold in auction for a county record breaking $15,000 to a group of buyers (see buyers list).

The grand champion female was exhibited by Ethan Beaupre from Churubsco and was not sold. The reserve champion female beef was shown by Dylan Paul from Huntertown, which was reserved from the auction.

The owner of the grand champion junior heifer was Cara Debolt from Churubusco and the heifer was reserved from the auction. Reserve champion junior heifer was shown by Gwen Brubaker of Huntertown and not sold in the auction.

The grand champion beef feeder calf was shown by Marcus Debolt of Churubusco. The calf was not sold in the auction. Gwen Brubaker from Huntertown showed the reserve champion beef feeder calf and also reserved her calf from the auction.

The dairy beef steer section of the auction accumulated $13,870 and sold three steers. The grand champion dairy beef steer was shown by Kleigh Crips from Fort Wayne. The steer was withheld from the auction. Reserve champion dairy beef steer was shown by Holly Howard from Fort Wayne. Howard also did not sell her steer.

Garret Ternet, 10-year 4-H member, broke a county record selling his steer for $5,500. The grand champion dairy beef calf was shown by Drew Dafforn from Churubusco and did not sell.

The reserve champion dairy beef calf was exhibited by Bayley Hitzmann from Fort Wayne and also was not in the auction.

Rebejah Huelsenbeck sold a record breaking dairy beef calf for $2,475.

Milk from the dairy cow section accumulated $3,300. The grand champion high scoring dairy cow was shown by Garrett Ternet. Milk from the grand champion cow was sold to a group of buyers for $1,580 (see buyers list). The reserve champion high scoring dairy cow was shown by Alexis Turpchinoff. The cow's milk sold for $1,720 to a group of supporters (see buyers list).

The swine project accumulated $43,445 with 145 lots of hogs sold. The grand champion gilt was shown by Bayley Hitzmann from Fort Wayne. The gilt was withheld from the sale.

Reserve champion gilt was exhibited by Madilyn Malcolm from Garrett and not sold in the auction.

Cameron Hille from Fort Wayne exhibited the grand champion barrow. His barrow was not sold in the auction.

The grand champion carcass gilt on rail was shown by Megan Buesching and sold for $1,535 to a group of supporters (see buyers list). The reserve champion carcass gilt on rail was shown by Jackson Platt and sold to a large group (see buyers list) in auction for $1,250. The reserve champion barrow on foot was sold Bayley Hitzerman for $1,605 to a long list of supporters (see buyers list).

Sheep brought in a species total of $3,000 and selling 12 sheep. The grand champion ewe was exhibited by Madelyn Corson from Fort Wayne and was not sold in the auction. The reserve champion ewe was shown by Maggie Warner from Huntertown. Grand champion market lamb was shown by Holly Howard from Fort Wayne and withheld from the auction. Madilyn Malcolm of Garrett showed the reserve champion market lamb. Malcom sold her 134 pound lamb in the auction for $375 to a group of supporters (see buyers list).

Goats brought in $19,270 with 31 lots sold. The grand champion meat goat weighed 86 pounds, selling for $2,910 in the auction to a group of friends and businesses (see buyers list). The goat winning meat goat was exhibited by Evan Brubaker from Huntertown.

Lauren Dicke exhibited the reserve champion meat goat. Grand and reserve champion meat goat doe were also both shown by Lauren Dicke of Fort Wayne and were not in the auction. Grand champion dairy goat was shown by Dylan Paul. The 76 pound goat sold for $880 in the auction to a group of buyers (see buyers list).

Hallie Paul showed the reserve champion dairy goat which was not in the auction.

The rabbit project accumulated $6,434 and sold 11 lots of rabbits. Grand champion six class rabbit was exhibited by Brooke Kneubuhler from Harlan and reserved from the sale. The reserve champion was shown by Justin Lutes from Harlan and did not sell.

The grand champion four class rabbit was exhibited by Josh Chaffee from Huntertown. Chaffee withheld his rabbits from the auction. Lucas Hamm from Churubusco exhibited the reserve champion four class rabbit. He did not sell the rabbit in auction.

Poultry sold 26 animals in the auction, for a species total of $13,055. Grand champion in the commercial poultry division was awarded to Tate Bonin from Fort Wayne and was purchased by a group of supporters (see buyers list) for $575.

Reserve champion commercial poultry was owned by Haley Vlaskamp from Fort Wayne. The bird was withheld from the auction. The grand champion exhibition poultry was awarded to Anne Hoffman from New Haven. Hoffman withheld her bird from the auction.

Reserve champion exhibition poultry was shown by Lexie Wertman from Fort Wayne, which was also reserved from the auction.
