Columbia City Livestock Judgers Win Title

Published: Friday, November 8, 2019

The Columbia City FFA livestock judging team represented Indiana last week at the National FFA Livestock Evaluation CDE contest in Indianapolis. Columbia City captured high team honors.

The team consisted of Grace Schrader, high individual overall; Dillon Sheiss, second overall; Maddie Schroeder, fifth overall; and Devin Baker, seventh overall.

The team finished first in the written exam, as well as hogs, sheep and goats, and cattle. They were fourth in team activities.

"This proved to be a very educational opportunity that the kids handled very professionally and deliberately," said FFA Coach Greg Rupert. "I am so proud of our team in winning the exam portion and finishing fourth in the team activities, only three points out of first. In doing so they not only completed their goals for this fall, but did it with a dominating 95-point margin."

In another recent livestock judging contest, the same Columbia City FFA team captured high honors in the annual Stockman Judging Contest in Clinton County.
