Argos Insect Teams Win in Warsaw

Published: Friday, November 29, 2019

The Argos Dragonflies entomology teams dominated the 4-H/FFA Area 10 entomology judging contest held at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds in Warsaw on Nov. 19.

Argos took two junior teams and one senior individual to the contest. The Argos Dragonflies Gold team placed first and the Argos Dragonflies Black team placed second. This makes both junior teams eligible to participate in the state entomology contest to be held at Purdue University on Dec. 14.

Lilly Pask placed sixth as an individual in the senior division. In the junior contest, individual placings were: Trinity Hensley, tenth; Marisa Kline, ninth; Xander Binfet, fifth; June Clark, fourth; Tristan Hutchison, third; Makenzie Smith, second; and Kyndra Thayer, first.

In this contest, participants need to be able to identify 40 insects from a list of 150 insects by common name and order. They also need to be able to answer 20 questions about pest status, appearance, life cycle and possible location of the 150 insects.
