Kallie Knott Receives $5,000 Scholarship

Published: Friday, August 14, 2020

Kallie Knott of LaOtto was among the record 97 scholarship and LEAD conference award winners selected by the Angus Foundation during the 2020 National Junior Angus Show in Tulsa, Okla.

Knott, the daughter of Robert and Rebecca Knott and 2018 Miss American Angus, received a $5,000 Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Undergraduate Scholarship. Knott is a graduate of Garrett High School and attends Purdue University.

Through the generosity of Angus Foundation donors, academic scholarships will help offset the cost of undergraduate and graduate degrees for National Junior Angus Assn. members. A total of $230,000 was awarded on July 25.

"We received an unprecedented number of applications this year," Thomas Marten, Angus Foundation executive director said. "We are thankful for our generous Angus Fund and endowment donors. Year after year, they step forward to encourage our Angus youth in their studies as well as in leadership and career development programs and cutting-edge research to advance the breed."

A five-member committee consisting of industry experts, foundation board members, Angus breeders and National Junior Angus Assn. board members evaluated the applications. The committee considered involvement, participation, leadership, service, career goals and other criteria set forth in the scholarships' fund agreements. Since 1998, the Angus Foundation has awarded more than $3.1 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships.
