St. Joseph County (Ind.) last week announced the arrival of its new agriculture and natural resources educator, Emily Evers. She is a research based, unbiased source of information for county and state constituents.

Her focus area covers crops, ag business, livestock, natural resource, horticulture, small farms, urban ag, pesticide use and land conservation. She will also lead, advise and educate Master Gardeners.

Evers is a recent graduate of Purdue University where she received her bachelor's in agribusiness with a minor in farm management and organizational leadership. While at Purdue, she was involved in the Agribusiness Club, served as an International Ag Ambassador, and was the president of the Adopt-A-Grandparent Club. She is passionate about agribusiness and is excited to assist and educate St. Joseph County residents.

Evers grew up on a family farm in Noble County, which raised corn, soybeans, alfalfa and Texas Longhorns. She currently resides in New Carlisle.

The St. Joseph County Agriculture and Natural Resources Program provides a variety of educational materials and opportunities. Contact the Extension office at 574/235-9605 for more information. Evers can be reached at everse@purdue.edu.
