Mich. Wheat Condition Improves

The following is from the Michigan Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service for the week ending Nov. 24.
Field Crops
Mild temperatures and precipitation throughout the week improved wheat condition as the harvest season wrapped up, according to Marlo D. Johnson, director, USDA NASS, Great Lakes Regional Office.
There were 3.6 days suitable for fieldwork in Michigan during the week ending Nov. 24. Crop harvest was virtually complete with a few reports of a small amount corn still awaiting.
Winter wheat condition continued to improve with additional moisture. Wheat and cover crops remained green while forages were entering dormancy.
Other activities last week included soil testing, planting cover crops, hauling grain, fall tillage, applying herbicides and fertilizer, spreading lime and manure, tending to livestock and farm planning for next year.
