Educational Sessions Await Farm Show Visitors

The 2025 Fort Wayne Farm Show will feature over 1,000 booths as well as ample opportunities to attend seminars to learn more about current topics in agriculture from Purdue University Cooperative Extension and Northeastern Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts. This year's farm show will take place Jan. 14-16 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
All the educational sessions will take place in the Appleseed Room A, right off the main exhibit floor, except the lunch on Wednesday, which will be in Appleseed Room B.
On Tuesday at 10 a.m., David Kohli and John Cavanaugh will deliver their "Midwest Ag Market Outlook" with Ryan Martin of Louis Dreyfus adding in weather and WOWO's Rob Winters providing input as well. At noon, Austin Pearson of the Midwest Regional Climate Center will discuss "Climate Impacts on Agriculture."
At 2 p.m., there will be a two-hour private applicator program led by Fred Whitford, director of Purdue Pesticide Programs.
Wednesday starts off at 10 a.m. with a seminar on "Farm Emergency Care." This session will be led by Elysia Rodgers, Purdue ag and natural resources educator from DeKalb County.
At 11:30 a.m., there will be the special Farm Bureau luncheon featuring Brianna Schroeder, attorney with Janzen Schroeder Ag Law, who will discuss "Hot Topics in Land Use." This is a free lunch, with the first 150 people in the door getting a meal. The lunch is sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau Inc. and local Farm Bureaus.
On Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Jane Frankenburger, professor of agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University, will lead a discussion on "Water Resources."
At 3:30 p.m., Jarrod Hahn, Wells County surveyor, will present "Who, What, Where, When and Why on Drainage Regulations."
The educational sessions conclude on Thursday with two programs. The first, at 10 a.m., offers "Tips for the Ag Job Search" and will be led by Bill Horan, Purdue Extension director in Wells County.
The second program on Thursday is a "Core Pesticide Test Prep" presented by Purdue Extension educators. That program starts at noon.
Supporting the future of agriculture, the Indiana FFA Scholarship Foundation will hold a fundraising auction at 1 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday of the show. A wide range of donated items will be up for bid, with proceeds benefitting the scholarship program.
The farm show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 14, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 15, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 16. Admission is free.
