Fair Enough
Fair aficionados finally have something new to chew on after several months of no fairs. Yes, the 2025 county fair schedule is out.
Even though it's late March, the start of the fair season is less than three months away. The first county fairs get underway during the week of June 9, with fairs launching that week in Brown, Floyd, Jennings and Shelby counties. The first county fair in Michiana is the Allen County Fair, set for June 17-22.
Compared to last year, the 2025 Michiana fair schedule is very similar. No county fairs are shifting from July to June, like we saw a couple years ago when Steuben and Allen made that change. But June is becoming a major month for fairs. Of the 92 county fairs in Indiana, 31 begin in June. Michigan has a few county fairs in June, but most are still in July and August. That's because the school year starts after Labor Day, and the county fair season goes a bit longer than Indiana.
In Michiana, county fairs that start in June are: Allen (June 17-22), Steuben (June 20-26), Starke (June 21-27), Miami (June 23-28), Pulaski (June 27-July 2) and St. Joseph (Ind., June 27-July 5).
July fairs include: LaGrange and LaPorte (July 5-12), Cass (Ind., July 5-11), Kosciusko (July 6-12), Whitley (July 11-17), Noble and Marshall (July 12-18), Fulton (July 12-19), Van Buren and Wabash (July 14-19), Huntington (July 18-24), Porter (July 17-26), Elkhart (July 18-26) and Cass (Mich., July 27-Aug. 2).
The August fair schedule begins with Lake County (Aug. 1-10) and continues with Branch County (Aug. 3-9), Calhoun County (Aug. 10-16) and Berrien County (Aug. 11-16).
The Kalamazoo County Fair, normally an August event, will not be held this year. Instead, organizers are planning a 4-H showcase on Aug. 4-9.
September seems like a really long way off, but that's still county fair season. Three Michiana fairs—Allegan (Sept. 5-13), St. Joseph (Mich., Sept. 14-21) and DeKalb (Sept. 22-27)—all run that month.
