North Miami Sweeps Soils Competition

The North Miami Soils evaluation team had a successful season culminating at the state soils contest in Huntington County on Oct. 17-18.
North Miami advanced eight teams from the Area contest to make a run for the state title and captured the state championship in two separate divisions securing a trip to nationals for two of the teams. They also earned the coveted chrome plated spade awarded to the coach from the highest scoring overall team from any division.
In team competition the North Miami Masters teams swept the competition placing all five teams first though fifth and taking home the top 11 individual awards.
Joannah Wildermuth led the teams by claiming the individual state championship honor followed closely by school mates Ryan Meredith, Emma Hughes, Karasyn Kuhn and Logan Hunt.
In the senior division of 4-H, the team of Tyler Tachney, Rivkah Miller, Lane Hunt and Oliver Wildermuth secured the state championship spot. They were led by Tachney as high individual followed closely by Kinley Deardorff, Miller, and Hunt. The team of Deardorff, Jayce Burns, Wyatt Smith and Bryanne Sturch placed third.
In the senior FFA division the team of Freedom McHenery, Jacob Julian, Cole Thorington and Emma Craft earned a respectable 15th.
The national contest will be held the first week of May in Oklahoma City.
